You must provide all information required by the InterRent including your:
Home and e-mail addresses
landline telephone number
Driver license number, date, place of issue and expiration date
Prior to the pickup of the vehicle, you will have to produce a driving licence valid in the country of rental. The driving licence must have been issued by authorized authorities at least 12 months before the date of the pickup. An international driving licence is also mandatory if your driving licence is written in a language different to the one of the country of rental and/or in characters that can not be read or understood in such country.
Please note that the international driving licence is only valid if accompanied by your standard driving licence. In case of rental outside of your country of residence, you must also present a valid identity card or a valid passport. New customers may also be required to produce a second form of identification, such as electricity or telephone bill less than three months old, and which confirms your last name, first name, and address indicated during the reservation process.
We are happy to welcome young drivers at InterRent. Although, if you want to rent with InterRent, the Young Driver Charge will apply as described below and you must hold your driving license for at the least 12 months.

Additional Driver Charge
You may indicate the number of additional drivers per rented vehicle. In order to benefit from the insurance coverage, all drivers must be mentioned in the Rental Agreement. The additional driver must be present at the pickup of the vehicle, sign the Rental Agreement including the Rental Terms and Conditions, and must produce his/her driver license. The Additional Driver Charge shall apply as follows:

Major credit cards accepted. InterRent does not accept payments in cash or cheques, Visa Electron and Maestro cards. Debit Cards are not accepted and can not be used as a form of payment or security with InterRent.
The credit card holder must be identified as the renter or the "main driver” in the Rental Agreement. He/She must present, at the pickup of the vehicle, the same credit as the one which was used for the vehicle booking. Such credit card must be in the main driver’s name and with an expiry date after the return date. As certain credit card companies may not be represented in all rental countries, please verify in advance the acceptance of your credit/ card in a small or remote country. Credit cards are accepted to the limits authorized by the credit card company.
During your rental, you will be required to comply with detailed terms and conditions regarding the use and maintenance of the rented vehicle as set out in the Rental Terms and Conditions included in your Rental Agreement.
- Cross Border Rentals
Cross border rentals are not permitted, except for Germany, Austria, Andorra, Belgium, Spain, France (except Corsica), Italy, Luxembourg, Monaco, Portugal or vehicles rented in Portugal intended for use in Spain. In such a case you must advise us at the counter prior to the pickup of the vehicle. A cross border fee of EUR 30 shall apply. Should you drive your rented vehicle outside of the renting country without our prior authorization, you will not be entitled to any insurance coverage and you will be liable for any damages, liabilities arising in connection with you rental and will be charged 661.16 per rental.
- Toll Management Service (for Portugal only)
If you are renting a vehicle in Portugal, we can provide you with a toll management service for EUR 1.85 per rental day. The purpose of this service is to pay the tolls with Europcar when circulating in highways that are subject to tolls. The car you rent will be equipped with a device that identifies the tolls payment so that you don’t have to go to the post office in order to pay the tolls.
- 24h Roadside Assistance
InterRent provides a 24h Roadside Assistance Service, which is included in the rental price and which applies in case of a mechanical failure of the rented vehicle, excluding any other cases, such as accidents. In case you need to contact our 24h Roadside Assistance, please refer to the telephone number provided in your Rental Agreement and/or supplementary information.
Please note that if a mechanical failure is due to your negligence or fault, a EUR 269 fee shall apply. We offer you the possibility to reduce this fee to EUR / GBP 50 by purchasing our Peace of Mind option, as detailed in the following section.
Insurance and waivers
Insurance included in your rental rate:
In accordance with the legal requirements applicable in the InterRent rental countries, all InterRent vehicles benefit from Third Party Liability Insurance (TPLI), purchased by InterRent from local “best in class” insurers, and which covers bodily harm and physical damage that you may cause to a third party as a result of an accident involving the rental vehicle. The TPLI is always included in your pre-paid rental rate and no deductible (excess) shall apply for TPLI.
Waivers included in your rental rate:
- Theft Waiver / Theft Protection (TW / TP), which covers loss or damage to the rental vehicle for theft, attempted theft or vandalism up to a certain amount, and subject to your payment of the non waivable excess, depending on the country of rental and the vehicle category; and
- Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), which covers loss or damage to the rental vehicle (except for theft, attempted theft or vandalism) up to a certain amount and subject to your payment of the non waivable excess, depending on the country of rental and the vehicle category.
Please note that the above waivers only apply to the extent you comply, during your rental, with the Rental Terms and Conditions, and in particular the rules concerning the use and maintenance of the rented vehicle. Otherwise, you will be liable for the total amount of the claim in accordance with the Rental Terms and Conditions set out in your Rental Agreement.
You can supplement the above coverage by buying the following optional insurances and waivers, subject to specific local requirements set out in the Annex herein and Rental Terms and Conditions. Should you want to buy such optional insurance, please refer to the Annex later in these booking requirements where prices are listed per InterRent renting country. Prices are subject to change and may depend on personal circumstances.
- Personal Accident Insurance (PAI), which covers you and your passengers, subject to permitted number of occupants in the vehicle, in the event of death or permanent disability. This product may not be available in all countries of rental and all vehicle categories, and
- Super Personal Accident Insurance (SPAI), which covers you and your passengers, subject to permitted number of occupants in the vehicle, in the event of death or permanent disability and covers your baggage and/or personal effects for loss or damage, depending on the country of rental and the vehicle category.
- Super Cover which reduces the non waivable excess, which applies in case of “CDW” and “TW/TP”, depending on the country of rental and the vehicle category, and
- Peace of Mind, which allows you to drive and enjoy without worrying about the cost of damage to the vehicle and the cost of assistance, by reducing the non waivable excess, depending on the country of rental and the vehicle category, which would otherwise apply in case of “CDW”, “TW/TP” and the Roadside Assistance fee.
Return of the vehicle
You agree to return the vehicle on the date and at the time indicated in the Rental Agreement. The rental duration is calculated on the basis of indivisible periods of 24 hours, starting from the time the vehicle is made available. You are allowed, however, a 29-minutes tolerance at the end of the rental before a late penalty as per table below and a new period of 24 hours is applied.
No reimbursement shall be made for rentals terminated before the date indicated in the Rental Agreement.
If you return the vehicle outside of the station opening hours, you remain fully responsible for the vehicle, even in the event you return the keys of the rented vehicle to your InterRent station’s key box, if available; therefore, please contact your station to check if out of hours service is available. The following out of hours fees may apply:

Should you wish to renew the Rental Agreement, you must first contact by telephone your InterRent pickup station, which shall do its best to assist you with the rental extension, subject to availability, rental rates at the time of your request, and signature of a new Rental Agreement.
Fines and Penalties
During the rental, you must take care of the vehicle and additional equipment rented, keep it in good repair and condition, and to pay any fines for which you may be liable. You shall refund InterRent (or any of its affiliates) for any charges incurred during the rental period, plus an administration fee:

Terms of booking on this website
The rates on this website are often heavily discounted. This is due to our negotiated rates and bulk buying power. On very rare occasions, a rate may be displayed incorrectly due to our, or a vehicle supplier's error. In such a case, if you book with us at a quoted rate that is incorrect, we will notify you of any price change and give you the option to proceed or cancel. We make every effort to keep information on our site up to date, but we cannot guarantee this website is free of errors or omissions and retain the right to update or change the information published at any time.
To the extent permitted by law we/the owners of this website will not be liable to you or to any third party (whether in contract, tort, or otherwise) for any direct, indirect or consequential loss or damage (including but not limited to any accident, injury, delay or loss of enjoyment) arising out of your reliance upon information contained on this website, including but not limited to your use (or inability to use) any products or services described or procured through this website.
When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. Your rental and use of the vehicle will be governed by the terms of the rental agreement and any other documentation or information provided to you by the supplier at the time you pick up your vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier's rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.
While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.
Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice.
If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.
Vehicle capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.
In the event of cancellation, any deposit amounts paid at the time of booking are non-refundable.
If you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
