General Rental Conditions
Note: All amounts shown are exclusive of 8 % VAT unless otherwise specified. All information and charges are subject to change without prior notice.
All International renters require a valid drivers licence, valid passport, a major credit card, local address and one telephone number.
Driver must have been licenced to drive for at least one year. At time of rental a valid licence must be produced from country of origin. If the drivers licence is not in roman script, an international drivers licence must be presented in addition.
The following credit cards are accepted at time of rental: American Express Credit Card (AMX), Diners Club Credit Card (DCL), Discover Card Credit Card (DIS), Euro/Mastercard (EUR), Visa Credit Card (VIS).
Special Payment For Greek Customers
IF GREEK CREDIT CARD IS DECLINED -> CASH PAYMENT/CASH RENTAL
*Greek Driving License
*Proof of residency in Greece. Alternatively if the customer does not have a Greek Passport or Driving License they may present a proof of residency (a document with a Greek address) that will be accepted at the discretion of the location manager/supervisor.
IMPORTANT: The cash payment exception applies ONLY to situations where payment is declined due to a credit card issued by a Greek bank AND the customer does not have an alternate valid credit card AND can produce any of the three proofs mentioned above.
*Rental to be processed as a cash rental at this stage
*This option only applies when collection and return of the vehicle is at the same location and will remain in force until further notice.
CASES WHERE CUSTOMER DO NOT MEET THE CASH PAYMENT REQUIREMENTS
*If for any reason a customer cannot meet the requirements for payment, they will not be able to rent a vehicle and their reservation will be cancelled for no fee.
GENERAL CONDITIONS CASH RENTAL GREEK CREDIT CARD HOLDERS
Car Groups: A, B, C, D, E, J, K, M, O, Q, R, Z, A5 (all other Categories are not allowed)
Security Cash Deposit: CHF 500.00 or € 500.00 + full value of rental, Monthly rental CHF 1500 or € 1500 + full value of rental
SC: mandatory, customer has to take SC
Locations: all Hertz Switzerland locations
DEPOSIT REFUND PROCESS CASH RENTAL GREEK CREDIT CARD HOLDERS
*Cash refund is only possible in Switzerland (it is not possible to get the Cash back from Hertz Greece)
*Cash refund only possible when customer returns during opening hours
*Cash refund only possible when customer returns vehicle to the rent location

Clients receive a car with a full tank of fuel. In case of clients not returning the car with a full tank of fuel, Hertz will take the right to refuel the car at a higher fuel price.
Minimum age is 19 years for all car groups. A supplementary charge for drivers between the age of 19 - 24 years will apply. CHF 13.90 per day, max. CHF 139.00 per rental (excl. 8 % tax)
Fees apply if there is one or more additional driver . The maximum number of additional drivers is the number of passenger allowed in the vehicle. It is the renters responsibility that the additional driver meets all the rental requirements i.e min age, drivers licence. If the charge is declined at the beginning of the rental, there is no insurance cover for any damages caused by the additional driver. CHF 13.90 per day, CHF 97.30 per week, max. CHF 139.00 per rental (excl.8 % tax)
General Insurance Conditions
Basic Insurance includes unlimited coverage on bodily injury to persons other than the driver and on property damage to anything other than the Hertz vehicle
Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)
This is not an insurance, it reduces the customers responsibility. If CDW is declined, the customer will be responsible for any damage to the Hertz vehicle up to the deductible amount.
NWE: A,B,C,E,J,R = CHF 1'500.00
NWE: D, K, O, Q = CHF 2'000.00
Theft Protection is an optional service which, if accepted, reduces the renters financial responsibility for loss of, or damage to the Hertz vehicle de to theft, attempted theft or vandalism (incl. parts and accessories)
Theft Protection (TP)
Where Theft Protection is declined, the renter will be responsible for the deductible amount
Personal Insurance covers yourself, your passengers and your personal effects. Terms and Conditions may apply.
Personal Accident Insurance (PAI)
Super Collision Damage Waiver (SCDW)
Super Cover is a supplement to CDW & TP that relieves the customer from:
any responsibility in case of loss or damage to the Hertz vehicle due to collission, theft, attempted theft or vandalism.
cars: with Super Cover Non-Waivable Excess is reduced to Zero
Maximum charge is 14 days per rental
Delivery and Collection / Out of Opening Hours Pick-up and Drop-off
Delivery & collection services may be available on request. Always please make sure to ask the Counter first for the possibility and the different fees.
For Airports: Monday - Saturday, if pick up time is 2 hrs before or after the displayed operational hours with 24 hrs advanced notice. Flight details must be provided for all instances as well as a valid credit card. Out of hours charge CHF 50.00 (excl. 8 % tax). On Sundays CHF. 75.00 (excl. 8 % tax). Downtown locations: Pick up time is 1 hour before or after locations operational hours with 24 hrs advance notice and received withon weeday of operation. Details of arrival (flight, train) are supplied as well as a valid credit card. Monday - Saturday CHF50.00, Sundays CHF75.00 (excl. 8 %^VAT).
Domestic One Ways are permitted only between the different DTG locations. A fee of CHF80.00 will apply.
International One Ways are not permitted
Cross Border Policy and Territorial Restrictions
Customers may not drive into the following countries with all car groups: Albania, Algeria, Bosnia-Herzegowina, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Egypt, Estonia, Greece, Iceland, Israel, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Middle East Morocco, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Montenegro, Tunisia and Turkey.
For all other countries cross boarder rentals are allowed without any restrictions.All vehicles are equipped with a Swiss highway sticker at no extra charge.

Surcharges and Taxes
Winterisation: From November 15th to March 31st a mandatory winterization surcharge will apply at all locations in Switzerland. This fee is indicated in the amount quoted on the rate screen and includes the following equipment, snow tyres, snow chains and an ice scraper
Vehicle Licence Fee: A mandatory road tax will apply at all locations in Switzerland. This fee is indicated in the amount quoted on the rate screen.
People with a registered residence in the European Union are not allowed to take a Swiss rental car from Switzerland to a neighbouring country (exception: returning to their home address on a direct way).
This applies to residents from the following countries:
Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Rumania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and United Kingdom.
You are liable for any penalties and associated charges by the supplier (including potential void of contract) if this rule is broken.
Terms of booking on this website
The rates on this website are often heavily discounted. This is due to our negotiated rates and bulk buying power. On very rare occasions, a rate may be displayed incorrectly due to our, or a vehicle supplier's error. In such a case, if you book with us at a quoted rate that is incorrect, we will notify you of any price change and give you the option to proceed or cancel. We make every effort to keep information on our site up to date, but we cannot guarantee this website is free of errors or omissions and retain the right to update or change the information published at any time.
To the extent permitted by law we/the owners of this website will not be liable to you or to any third party (whether in contract, tort, or otherwise) for any direct, indirect or consequential loss or damage (including but not limited to any accident, injury, delay or loss of enjoyment) arising out of your reliance upon information contained on this website, including but not limited to your use (or inability to use) any products or services described or procured through this website.
When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. Your rental and use of the vehicle will be governed by the terms of the rental agreement and any other documentation or information provided to you by the supplier at the time you pick up your vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier's rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.
While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.
Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice.
If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.
Vehicle capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.
In the event of cancellation, any deposit amounts paid at the time of booking are non-refundable.
If you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
