Rome Ciampino Airport
Dating back to 1916, Ciampino-G.B. Pastine International Airport (known as Rome Ciampino Airport) is a major European hub, predominantly thanks to low-cost airline Ryanair. Destinations include Barcelona, Budapest, Eindhoven, London-Stansted and Manchester. If you pick-up your car rental from Ciampino Airport, it’s just a 12km drive south-east to central Rome. It’s not difficult to find your way around the airport, with four passenger terminals and four information desks. There is also regular public transport into the city if you’re not collecting your Rome car rental at a terminal.
Rome Fiumicino Airport
Rome Fiumicino Airport also has the name Leonardo da Vinci International Airport and is the country’s biggest. Around 35km from the CBD, domestic flights go from Terminal A, while domestic and international are at Terminal B. Transatlantic flights operate out of Terminal C. You will find rent-a-car offices at both domestic and International arrivals – they are easily signposted. The companies with depots at the airport include Europcar, Sixt, Hertz and Avis. There is an Airport Hotel if you’re looking to stay the night and the Hilton Rome has an excellent reputation. A pedestrian walkway will get you there and takes around five minutes.
