General Rental Information
The renter and the driver have to be in possession of a valid driving license.
The driver requires a valid license issued in one of the following countries:
- Any country part of the EU/EEC
- Any country part of the Geneva/Vienna Convention on Road Traffic
- Hong Kong
Driving licenses issued in China are not accepted.
If the license is printed in a non-Roman alphabet (Arabic, Japanese, Cyrillic etc.) it needs to be complemented by an international license printed in English
Furthermore, if the license is not written in Finnish, Swedish or English the driver has to provide either an international license written in English or an official translation in English of the original license.
Please show a valid ID card or passport at time of pick up!
Special rental information by booking of Prepaid rates
A booking can be changed up to 48 hours before the start of the rental (on availability) in return for an alteration charge of 20.00 EUR. Any payment already made towards the rental will not be refunded; nor shall any differential amount be refunded if this alteration leads to a lesser rental cost.
(Rebooking = RF)
A booking can be cancelled before the start of the rental. In the event of cancellation, the payment already made towards the rental will be paid back subject to a cancellation charge. The cancellation charge shall be the amount of the rental charge ( including any extras and charges) for a maximum of 3 rental days. In the event that the booked vehicle is not collected or not collected at the agreed time, the rental charge already paid shall be withheld in full.
In Finland, the following rules apply for the minimum age and possession of a driver's license:
19 years/1 year for vehicles in groups MBMR, MBAR, MTMR, ECMR, CCMR, CCAR, CDMR, CDAR, CPMR and CWMR,
20 years/1year for vehicles in groups IWMR, IXMR, IDMR, IFMR, IDAH and IDAR
21 years/1 year for vehicles in groups SDMR, SDAR, SWMR, SWAR, SVMR, SVAR, SVAH, SFMR, SFAR, FDAR, FWAR, FVMR, FDAH, PDAR, PWAR, PVAR and PFAR
25 years/1year for vehicles in groups SSMR, LTAR, LFAR, LVAR, XDAR, XCAE and XFAR.
28 years/5 years for vehicles in group XXAR.
A Young Driver Surcharge of 29.00 EUR per rental applies for drivers under 25 years.

Conditions of Payment
We accept all credit cards from internationally recognised credit card companies - such as American Express, Diners Club, Eurocard/Mastercard, Visa.
We do not accept any prepaid cards or debit cards (VISA Electron, Maestro card).
Sixt also accepts AirPlus as payment.
Cash Payment is not accepted.
Express Sixt Card is only accepted in combination with a valid Credit Card.
The following credit cards are accepted: American Express, Eurocard/Mastercard and Visa. We do not accept any prepaid cards or debit cards (Visa Electron). The renter must be the owner of the indicated credit card. The authorized driver details and method of payment will be confirmed at reservation stage and cannot be amended. The confirmed credit card should be valid and available for presentation on collection of the vehicle. All extra costs that occur during the car rental will be charged to this credit card.
By booking a prepaid rate, the credit card will be charged before the start of rental, directly with the estimated total amount of rental. The amount that will be charged on your credit card comprises the price of the rental as well as all additional extra fees.
The rental charge (plus any other charges agreed, e.g. exemptions from liability, delivery charges, airport charges etc.) plus Value Added Tax in the statutory amount applicable from time to time must, as a matter of principle, be paid in full for the agreed rental period, i.e. if the vehicle is collected late or returned early there shall be no refund.
An advance charge approval is obtained for the chosen means of payment as a security. The exact deposit is determined on collection since the amount is dependent on the vehicle.
Before one of the following vehicles is hired, we always obtain an approval to the amount of 4,000.00 EUR : LTAR, XDAR, XFAR and XXAR.
To hire one of the following vehicles, customers must present two credit cards: LTAR, XDAR, XFAR and XXAR.
Please note, that payments with credit card may require the PIN of the credit card.
General Protection Conditions
Third Party Insurance (TI)
Protection coverage for the vehicle rented includes Third Party Liability with unlimited cover for personal injuries. Maximum cover for material damages is EUR 3,3 mil.
Excluded from the protection is the use of the vehicle for the transport of dangerous goods. All protection as part of the rental contract will become void, in particular, if an unauthorized driver has used the vehicle or if the driver of the vehicle does not possess the required driver's license at the time of the event giving rise to claim.
Loss Damage Waiver (LDW)
Loss Damage Waiver removes the drivers responsibility to a part of the vehicle in case of damage or theft.

If LDW is already included in the rates, the renter can choose Top Cover LDW to reduce the Non-Waiverable Responsibility.

Tyre and Windscreen Coverage (GT)
Tyre and Windscreen Coverage provides cover against the consequences of damages on tires, windscreen, side windows and backwindow.

If GT is not accepted the customer will be held liable for the full value of damages on tires, windscreen, side windows and backwindow.
If GT is accepted, customer is only responsible for the following amounts: 0.00 EUR.
GT cannot be chosen for car group XXAR and XCAE.

Roadside Protection (BC)
The roadside protection ensures continuation of journey, and protects against high service costs in case of following incidents for example: towing services due to broken tire or accident, loss of car key, running out of fuel, vehicle stuck and flat battery starting necessities.

Cross Border Rentals & Territorial Restrictions
Cross Border Rentals are on request only. Please contact the local rental station or the reservations center via email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Cross Border Rentals are allowed to the following countries:
Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
Customers travelling to Baltic States (Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania)are requested to make the corresponding reservation 7 days before picking up the car and to announce this cross border rental at time of reservation.
Cross Border rentals to Russia are not possible.
In case of offence against Cross Border & Territorial Restrictions all protections lose their validity.

A Premium location fee of 42.00 EUR occurs for rentals at airport stations per month or part thereof.

Accessories are bookable without obligation and subject to availability.
The required winter tyres (without spikes) for trips to foreign countries have to be requested in advance.
A fee of 4.00 EUR per day (max. 14 days) occurs for rentals between November 1 and March 31. It includes amongst others winter tyres (with spikes for all groups except Mini) and ice scraper.

An Additional Driver Surcharge of 29.00 EUR per rental applies.

All vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel and should be refilled prior to return to Sixt, otherwise a charge of 3.00 EUR per litre of petrol or 3.00 EUR per litre of diesel will apply.

Alternatively, you may purchase a tankful of fuel (prepaid fuel) at the time of rental at a price that is competitive with local fuel stations and return the tank empty. No refunds will be given for unused fuel.

A Vehicle License Fee of 4.00 EUR per day occurs, maximum 56.00 EUR per month.

Terms of booking on this website
The rates on this website are often heavily discounted. This is due to our negotiated rates and bulk buying power. On very rare occasions, a rate may be displayed incorrectly due to our, or a vehicle supplier's error. In such a case, if you book with us at a quoted rate that is incorrect, we will notify you of any price change and give you the option to proceed or cancel. We make every effort to keep information on our site up to date, but we cannot guarantee this website is free of errors or omissions and retain the right to update or change the information published at any time.
To the extent permitted by law we/the owners of this website will not be liable to you or to any third party (whether in contract, tort, or otherwise) for any direct, indirect or consequential loss or damage (including but not limited to any accident, injury, delay or loss of enjoyment) arising out of your reliance upon information contained on this website, including but not limited to your use (or inability to use) any products or services described or procured through this website.
When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. Your rental and use of the vehicle will be governed by the terms of the rental agreement and any other documentation or information provided to you by the supplier at the time you pick up your vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier's rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.
While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.
Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice.
If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.
Vehicle capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.
In the event of cancellation, any deposit amounts paid at the time of booking are non-refundable.
If you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
