Rates are inclusive of third party insurance, collision damage waiver insurance, theft protection insurance, unlimited mileage, airport/location surcharge, vehicle licence fee, 24 hour breakdown service and Value Added Tax @ 13.5%. The date of commencement determines the seasonal rate for the entire rental.
Additional Net Rates may be made available during the year with different inclusions. Please refer to these rate sheets for further information.
All rates are quoted in Euro.
Any amounts that you collect over and above the contracted rates from your customer is for your account and relates to the service you provide to your customers.
Airport Surcharge is included in the rate.
Activating your rates
To active your agreed rates, please initial each page of this document, sign the last page and return to us by email or fax. Rates cannot be set up or reservations accepted without your signature.
Amendments and Cancellations
Amendments and Cancellations must be made in writing only and will not be accepted over the phone. Reservations must be made using the Dollar Thrifty vehicle group as quoted on your rate sheet. Please do not make reservations using a SIPP code.
If an amendment or cancellation is required on the day that the vehicle is due to be collected, PLEASE CONTACT OUR RESERVATIONS DEPARTMENT DIRECTLY.
Extension of Rental/Extra Days
Please advise any client who wishes to extend their rental (after they have picked up their rental vehicle) to contact our Reservations Department to see if extension of the rental is possible. Extensions will be charged directly to the client at the local daily rate.
All hirers are allowed a one-hour period of grace provided that the vehicle is returned within our hours of operation. Hirers exceeding this will pay any extra charges directly at the local rate.
Maximum Length of Rental
The maximum length of rental allowed on one reservation is 28 days. For rentals of a longer duration, please contact Central Reservations.
Customers, who rent from us for more than 35 days in a 6 month rolling period, will be subject to the higher rate of vat at 23%. This will be recalculated locally.
We do not issue refunds for unused days.
To drive a Dollar Thrifty rental vehicle, drivers must be in possession of a full, unendorsed driving licence which they have held for at least 12 months prior to the commencement of the rental. Licences must be produced at the Dollar Thrifty location at the time of collection. Drivers must be in possession of their licence at all times when driving the vehicle. Certain minor endorsements may be accepted – please check with Central Reservations BEFORE making a booking. Licences must be from the country of permanent residence.
Holders of UK, US, Canadian, Australian and all EU member states are NOT required to supply an International Driving Permit (IDP). International Driving Permits where required, MUST BE accompanied by the original domestic licence of the driver. This is clearly stated on the international permit. An International permit presented without the domestic licence, will not be accepted.
It is a legal requirement that the driver must have both the card and the paper part of their UK license. Where the paper part is missing, the rental agent will be required to contact the DVLA to confirm that there are no endorsements on the license. In the event that we must contact the DVLA, an administration fee of €11.35 will apply to the rental. We can only contact the DVLA within their standard hours of operation which are Monday to Friday, 08:00-20:30 and Saturday 08:00-17:30. They are closed on Sunday. We accept no liability for changes to these hours. Where we cannot contact the DVLA, we accept no responsibility for a failed rental.
At the commencement of rental, drivers must have been eligible to hold a drivers licence for 8 years to drive all groups except group PDAR. To drive group PDAR, drivers must have been eligible to hold a drivers licence for 11 years.
For driving licences issued in USA and Canada, the driver must have been eligible to hold a drivers licence for 9 years to drive all groups except group PDAR. To drive group PDAR, drivers must have been eligible to hold a drivers licence for 12 years.
Drivers over the age of 74 will need to provide a medical certificate which states that they are fit to drive and a letter from their insurance company stating that they are currently driving and have not had an accident within the last 5 years. This information must be received at least 5 working days in advance of your rental.
Additional drivers can be added for a daily fee of €9.08. Additional drivers can be added on collection of the vehicle only. Normal age and licence restrictions apply. Please note unauthorised drivers are not covered by our insurance and are prohibited from driving the rental car. The additional driver must be present at time of pickup and must fulfil all the same criteria as the principle driver.
The main driver must be the holder of a major credit card which they must produce on arrival for payment of the rental. In the case of a “Chip and Pin” credit card, the card holder must know their PIN number. A credit card is required for the excess/deductible and additional charges such as extra drivers, fuel, parking fines etc. Dollar Thrifty Car Rental accepts MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Diners Club. We cannot accept debit cards, electronic cards or cash. The credit card must be in the name of the main driver. At the time of rental there must be sufficient credit on your card to cover all charges including the excess/deductible amount. WE CANNOT HIRE A CAR TO ANYONE ARRIVING WITHOUT A CREDIT CARD (OR WHO DOES NOT KNOW THEIR PIN) OR ONE WHO DOES NOT HAVE SUFFICIENT CREDIT ON THEIR CARD TO COVER ALL CHARGES.
Regardless of the level of insurance coverage purchased, ALL renters will be subject to a preauthorisation on their credit card of €50. This is in the event of traffic fines, toll charges etc.

One Way Rentals
One way rentals between branches are charged directly to the client on collection of the vehicle as follows:
Travel to Northern Ireland
Should the client wish to drive in Northern Ireland it is a requirement of rental that they inform Dollar Thrifty Car Rental that they wish to do so prior to leaving the rental location. There is a nominal €34.05 fee when taking a car into Northern Ireland. Cars cannot be taken off the island of Ireland at any stage and must be returned in the Republic. Failure to purchase the required insurance will result in the renter accepting full responsibility for any recovery fees, should the car breakdown.
*Out of Hours Reservations
Advance reservations outside our opening hours as previously advised to you, will be catered for where possible – please send your request to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note that these reservations are on a request basis only and must be requested before confirming back to customer. Where the out of hours reservation has been accepted, a fee of €40 is payable on arrival at the pickup location directly by the renter.
For all rentals commencing at an airport location, arrival flight information must be provided for bookings to be completed. Flights should be scheduled to land within our branch opening hours. Where flight information is not provided or incorrect information is provided, we cannot be held responsible for a failed rental and no refund will be due.
Cars may be returned outside our location hours by prior arrangement only. There is a fee to cover parking charges as follows: Dublin Airport QuickPark €22.70. Fees are payable on collection of the vehicle and full return instructions will be given at this time. Cars that are returned outside the above location opening times will be charged for any damage or any loss incurred until the car is returned to the car rental company.
Dollar Thrifty Car Rental operates a fleet with many different makes and models of cars. Whilst every effort will be made to supply the reserved model, we reserve the right to supply a suitable alternative. Please note that we cannot guarantee a particular make or model.

All groups except IFAR, FDAR, PDAR, SVAR, PVAR and FVMR are on freesale until such a time as you are advised OR as advised on your rate sheet. Periodic stop sales on all car groups may occur at peak times throughout the year. You will be advised of these in writing.
Dollar Thrifty accepts no responsibility for costs incurred in the unlikely event of a vehicle not being available nor a suitable alternative being provided.
We offer two fuel options:
1. PREPAID FUEL OPTION
Customers can choose our prepaid fuel option at the beginning of their rental at our special discounted rates. To avail of this option, the fuel tank MUST BE RETURNED EMPTY. No refunds will be given for unused fuel. Prices for this option are set locally.
2. FLEXI FUEL OPTION:
Pay a deposit for a full tank of fuel when picking up the rental car at market rates and on return the renter has two options:
• Return with a full tank and the fuel deposit will be refunded automatically.
• Return the tank less than full and pay for any used fuel plus a Refill Service Charge.
No compensation will be given for fuel charges if an upgrade to a larger car is given
M50 Toll Information
Customers will be advised on collection of the vehicle what our M50 Toll Road policy is.
Speeding, parking and other endorsements/fines are the responsibility of the hirer in full. Dollar Thrifty Car Rental accepts no responsibility for any fine or payment. The renter is obliged to inform Dollar Thrifty Car Rental of any fines or parking tickets issued whilst the vehicle is being used by the renter. Where Dollar Thrifty receive a fine that was not settled when issued, the total cost of the fine, plus an administration fee of €30.00, will be charged to the main driver’s credit card.
If on arrival the client feels that the car they have booked is not suitable for their requirements, we will be happy to provide a larger vehicle if available. Upgrade charges are payable on arrival at the local daily rate. If a customer is given a free upgrade on arrival, we cannot accept any customer service queries regarding fuel or insurance cost.
We do not issue refunds for charges paid directly on arrival in the event of the vehicle returning earlier than booked.
Vehicle / Reservation Re-rent
Vehicles will only be held for 1 hour after the booked pickup time/landing time within our opening hours. After this time, the vehicle may not be available.
Charging for No Shows
In the event of a No Show, you will be charged 1 day’s rental for vehicle Groups FDMR, FDAR, SVMR, SVAR, PVAR, PVMR, PDAR.

If you decide to use an insurance excess waiver policy purchased through a third party to cover your limited liability, please understand that it does not waive your excess with Dollar Thrifty directly. Dollar Thrifty will require a preauthorisation of the excess amount on the driver's credit card on collection of the vehicle. In the event of damage, Dollar Thrifty will charge the card for the excess amount on return. The onus is on the driver to claim back these costs from the third party insurance provider.
Personal Benefits Membership
PBM covers the driver for personal injuries or fatalities up to €31,750 in the event of an accident whilst in the vehicle.
Garmin Nuvi GPS units are available to rent at a cost of €10.00 per day to a maximum of €90.00 per rental.
Baby seats are available by prior notification at the time of booking at an additional cost of €6.81 per day to maximum cost of €47.67 per rental. If more than one child seat is required per vehicle, there is a maximum cost of €73.78. Baby seats are forward facing and are suitable for children from 9 – 18KG. We cannot provide rear facing baby seats or baby seats for infants less than 9 KG.
Booster cushions are available by prior notification at the time of booking at an additional cost of €6.81 per day to maximum cost of €47.67 per rental. If more than one child seat is required per vehicle, there is a maximum cost of €73.78. Booster cushions are suitable for children up to 6 years.
The law in Ireland states that an appropriate child restraint MUST be used.
New EU Child Safety Protection Laws have come into force making it compulsory for all children to travel in the correct child seat, booster seat or booster cushion. Where safety belts have been fitted they must be worn. Children under 3 years of age must not travel in a car unless restrained in the correct child seat. Children aged 3 years or over who are under 150cms in height and weighing less than 36 kilograms (i.e. generally children up to 11/12 years old) must use the correct child seat, booster seat or booster cushion when travelling in cars. Child car seats must be in accordance with EU or United Nations- Economic Commission for Europe (UN-ECE) standards. Drivers have a legal responsibility to ensure passengers aged under 17 use the correct seat, booster seat, booster cushion or seatbelt.
Customer Service Issues
Any customer services issues or complaints must be received in writing within 28 days of the termination of rental. Please email our Customer Service department on email@example.com. We will respond to you within 28 days.

On very rare occasions, a rate may be displayed incorrectly due to our, or a vehicle supplier's error. In such a case, if you book with us at a quoted rate that is incorrect, we will notify you of any price change and give you the option to proceed or cancel. We make every effort to keep information on our site up to date, but we cannot guarantee this website is free of errors or omissions and retain the right to update or change the information published at any time.
To the extent permitted by law we/the owners of this website will not be liable to you or to any third party (whether in contract, tort, or otherwise) for any direct, indirect or consequential loss or damage (including but not limited to any accident, injury, delay or loss of enjoyment) arising out of your reliance upon information contained on this website, including but not limited to your use (or inability to use) any products or services described or procured through this website.
When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. Your rental and use of the vehicle will be governed by the terms of the rental agreement and any other documentation or information provided to you by the supplier at the time you pick up your vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier's rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.
While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.
Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice.
If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.
Vehicle capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.
In the event of cancellation, any deposit amounts paid at the time of booking are non-refundable.
If you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
